Philo J. Swindell was born on 25 May 1854 in Madison Township. Philo never married nor had any children. He was a bartender most of his life, and was well known in Newark, Licking County, Ohio. On Feb 28, 1910 he suffered a stroke of paralysis and was an invalid until his death on 23 March 1912 in Newark, Ohio. Philo was 57 years old at the time of death. He lived in a boarding house of Mrs. Lynn for years, and she cared for him after his stroke.
